Cricket in Pakistan is as famous as football in other parts of the world but almost 10 days back a terror attack happened on Sri Lanka team. That affected Cricket of Pakistan in a sense that all countries refused to play cricket in Pakistan. International Cricket Board (ICC) stopped international players for playing in Pakistan. In the mean while (PCB) Pakistan Cricket Board started Pakistan super league but due to unavailability of International Players in Country, they had to book UAE grounds for Super league matches. For hosting of international matches, Pakistan cricket board chose UAE and the same option availed for hosting International event, Pakistan Super League because they had to keep in mind they needed sponsors and support from people as crowds in the matches. The more crowd matches get, the more event hits in the world. Recently PSL has completed its 3rd league. It has started revenues but the problem is again the same and that is matches outside the country. Crowd is limited and earnings from Tickets are almost equal to zero.
Prime Minister Imran khan was a legend cricketer in his career of cricket. He was struggling in politics of Pakistan and during his struggle, he always was against the system of Cricket board and he used tp promise people of Pakistan that whenever he will get the charge in the government he will change the system if Cricket Board of Pakistan. When he came to government 1 year back, the old chairman Najam sethi resigned from his designation. Imran khan announced new Ehsan maani, Chairmain cricket board which had a huge respect in ICC and International cricket. He tried to improve system of cricket board but now he realized that PCB needs renovation in system.
Prime Minister took a bold decision by making an amendment to dissolve powers of Prime Minister of Pakistan and now Government of Pakistan has formally notified the new PCB constitution with certain amendments, according to which its patron in-chief, Prime Minister of Pakistan, will have no powers to dissolve PCB or remove its chairman. Which means Government will not be able to influence the cricket board from now onwards.
Another issue in the management was the roles and their tasks. Managements were always blaming each other now new management has reviewed every aspect in accordance with domestic system of cricket, management and hierarchy of system which makes a player to get selected in National team of Pakistan. PCB has developed a system which will have school cricket, Under 13 crickets, club cricket, Under 16 crickets, Under 19 crickets and then national team. It would help players to develop their game by playing in each team with different players and grounds. This would help Pakistan cricket board in developing player before naming national team.
Pakistan cricket board has announced new head coach and Selector, both were questioned in World Cup defeat but after World Cup, PCB decided to make it one position and they have named MIsbah ul haq as both Chief selector and Head coach and Waqar Younis as new Balling Coach. They are hopeful that this will resolve selection issues in National team. PCB has reduced the number of players in Domestic cricket to 96 with new domestic setup. Lets see what impact this new system brings to Pakistan Domestic and International Team.
